About Tsavo (East & West) National Parks :

Size: Tsavo East National Park 13,747 sq.km. And Tsavo West National Park  9,065 sq.km.

Location : Located in Coast Province of Kenya in between Nairobi City and Mombasa.

Getting There:

By Air: There are no scheduled flights to Tsavo East anf West, but there are several airstrips available for chartered flights from Nairobi and Mombasa.

By Road: Tasvo East - From Nairobi 233 km and from Mombasa 250 km.  Tasvo West - 240 km from Nairobi, 250km from Mombasa.

What To Do:

Tasvo East - Birding, Camping, Trekking, Game viewing. 

Tasvo West - Cave exploration, Game viewing, Underwater Hippo and Fish watching, Birding.

When To Go:

Recommend the dual dry season from July to October and January to February.

Tsavo East Features

The slightly larger Tsavo East is generally flat, with dry plains across which the Galana River flows. Other features include the Yatta Plateau and Lugard Falls.With easy access to the park from the coast of Mombasa

Tsavo West Features

Tsavo West National Park is more mountainous and wetter than its counterpart, with swamps, Lake Jipe and the Mzima Springs. It is known for bird life and for its large mammal’s e.g. black rhino, Cape buffalo, elephant, leopard, hippo and Masai lion. There are also other smaller animals that can be spotted in the park, such as the bush baby, hartebeest, lesser kudu and Maasai giraffe.
